The Golf Manager reports to the Director of Leisure & Recreation and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the golf department, delivering an exceptional experience for members, resort guests, and visitors. This role combines operational leadership, guest engagement, team development, and commercial awareness to ensure the golf experience reflects the highest standards of luxury hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Golf Operations & Guest Experience
- Oversee the daily operation of the golf department, ensuring a seamless experience from arrival through completion of play.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout golf operations and ensure all guest touchpoints meet Fairmont service standards.
- Build strong relationships with members and guests, anticipating needs and responding confidently to requests or concerns.
- Oversee tee-time management, player flow, course access, golf services, and daily operational requirements.
- Ensure the golf shop, practice areas, clubhouse, and other guest-facing areas are clean, organized, and presented to luxury standards.
- Monitor guest feedback and take ownership of service recovery to ensure concerns are resolved promptly and professionally.
- Working with Golf Superintendent on course conditions, budgets, ordering and planning course work
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the Golf team to deliver consistent service and operational excellence.
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, daily assignments, and departmental priorities based on business levels and events.
- Conduct regular team communication, training, and coaching to reinforce service standards, product knowledge, and golf operations.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and guest-focused team culture.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and colleague development as required.
Golf Events & Programming
- Coordinate and oversee golf tournaments, group outings, clinics, special events, and other golf-related programs.
- Work closely with Conference Services, Catering, Sales, Food & Beverage, and other departments to ensure successful event execution.
- Ensure tournament and group requirements are communicated clearly and delivered according to client expectations.
- Support the development of programs and experiences that enhance guest engagement and strengthen the resort's golf offering.
Commercial & Operational Excellence
- Support the Director of Golf in achieving departmental revenue, expense, and profitability goals.
- Monitor tee-time utilization, retail sales, inventory, and other revenue opportunities.
- Identify opportunities to promote golf, retail, Food & Beverage, lessons, events, and other resort offerings.
- Ensure accurate cash handling, retail procedures, inventory controls, and operational reporting.
- Maintain compliance with hotel policies, golf procedures, safety requirements, and brand standards.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to support the overall operations of the hotel and deliver an exceptional golf and guest experience.
