Reporting to the Director of Group Sales and Director of Transient Sales, the Sales Manager is responsible for driving group, meetings, events, and corporate travel revenue for Fairmont Southampton through proactive business development, strategic account management, and relationship-based selling. As the resort's primary sales representative within the Bermuda market, this role is responsible for identifying, contracting, and growing business across corporate, association, incentive, government, social, and business travel segments. The successful candidate will manage key accounts, develop new business opportunities, and help position Fairmont Southampton as Bermuda's leading destination for meetings, events, and business travel.
Key Responsibilities
Group Sales & Business Development
- Achieve individual revenue, room night, and sales activity goals.
- Prospect, develop, and secure new group business across corporate, association, incentive, government, social, and special event segments.
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through proposal development, site inspections, contract negotiation, and conversion.
- Develop strategic account plans to maximize revenue and client retention.
- Conduct presentations, client meetings, networking activities, and site inspections to drive business.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and negotiate agreements that deliver value for both clients and the resort.
Corporate Travel & Business Transient
- Serve as the primary sales contact for Bermuda-based corporate accounts.
- Identify, negotiate, and manage preferred corporate travel agreements.
- Build relationships with travel managers, procurement teams, executive assistants, and key decision-makers.
- Grow transient room night production through proactive account management and business development.
- Conduct account reviews and business planning to maximize production and uncover new opportunities.
- Partner with Revenue Management to develop competitive and profitable corporate travel programs.
- Monitor account performance, market trends, and competitive activity.
Local Market Development
- Develop relationships with local businesses, government entities, associations, and community organizations.
- Identify opportunities for accommodations, meetings, conferences, project business, executive retreats, long-stay guests, and special events.
- Represent Fairmont Southampton within the Bermuda business and tourism communities.
- Participate in industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to generate new business.
Destination Sales & Client Engagement
- Promote Fairmont Southampton and Bermuda as premier destinations for meetings, events, incentives, celebrations, and business travel.
- Lead hotel and destination site inspections that inspire clients and drive conversion.
- Provide destination expertise and creative solutions tailored to client objectives.
- Collaborate with Discover Bermuda DMC and local partners to enhance proposals and program delivery.
Commercial Collaboration
- Partner with Revenue Management, Marketing, Events, and Operations to maximize revenue and client satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate account, activity, production, and forecast information within CRM systems.
- Monitor market trends and competitive activity to identify revenue opportunities.
- Support the successful reopening and long-term growth of Fairmont Southampton.
