We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Southampton as our new Food & Beverage Truck Driver - Heavy. The Food & Beverage Truck Driver – Heavy reports to the Executive Chief Steward and is responsible for safely transporting goods and materials as requested by the F&B Department. This role ensures timely deliveries, adherence to regulations, and reliable support to operational needs. This position supports Banquets, Events, and Food & Beverage operations across the resort and may be required to assist other departments as directed by management.
Key Responsibilities
Driving & Operations
- Operate company trucks safely and responsibly, following all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Complete assigned trips and deliveries efficiently and on time as per daily schedule.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any vehicle issues promptly.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness inside and out including basic upkeep.
- Load, unload, and secure cargo safely according to company procedures.
- Use basic communication or delivery tracking tools (e.g., radios, mobile apps, delivery logs).
- Make sound decisions during unexpected road or delivery challenges.
- Utilize equipment such as pallet jacks, dollies, or basic warehouse tools when needed.
- Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed in accordance with daily dispatch schedules and approved requests.
- Support event logistics through timely transportation and movement of operational equipment, food, beverages, and supplies.
- Verify quantities and condition of goods at pickup and delivery points, reporting discrepancies immediately.
- Ensure proper temperature control for food and beverage items during transport where applicable.
- Adhere to internal loading, unloading, and dock safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain proper security and accountability of all transported goods, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist with proper storage, organization, and rotation of goods when required.
- Immediately report accidents, near-misses, or unsafe conditions to management.
Safety, Compliance & Standards
- Demonstrate professional grooming, appearance, and service standards in line with Fairmont policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism regarding resort operations, events, and guest-related activities.
- Maintain accurate trip and delivery records and report incidents or delays immediately.
- Ensure compliance with vehicle maintenance, safety, and documentation standards.
- Follow all Fairmont health, safety, and environmental policies, including mandatory trainings.
- Maintain security of all transported goods and follow property access control procedures.
- Represent the organization professionally during interactions with vendors, suppliers, and colleagues.
- Comply with all local transport regulations, licensing requirements, and internal audit standards.
- Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and compliance audits as required.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene requirements when transporting food and beverage items.
- Maintain awareness of emergency procedures and respond appropriately in the event of an incident.
- Maintain all required licenses and certifications necessary to perform the role.
- Assist with operational support during emergency situations, severe weather preparation, or business continuity requirements.
Teamwork & Operational Support
- Collaborate with Food & Beverage and other departments to meet operational needs.
- Assist with inventory movement and related tasks.
- Provide courteous and helpful assistance when interacting with guests or colleagues onsite.
- Practice fuel-efficient and environmentally responsible driving.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Support Banquets and Events with time-sensitive deliveries during peak operational periods.
- Assist with setup, breakdown, or logistical support for large-scale events when required.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with supervisors regarding workload, delays, or operational challenges.
- Contribute to a positive team environment aligned with Fairmont values.
