AECOM Enterprise Capabilities is currently recruiting for a Principal Engineer - Ground Engineering to join our busy and expanding experienced team. The team provides assessment, concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs on a wide range of Projects, either as standalone commissions or as part of multidisciplinary major projects. The responsibilities of this role include:
- Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer in diverse geotechnical projects
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures in geotechnical engineering with emphasis on soil and rock data
- Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position in relation to geotechnical projects
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and designs for staff in geotechnical engineering
- Prepare and manage technical specification sections related to designs, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards and regulations.
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and tests for geotechnical projects
- Independently perform all the tasks necessary to complete design elements for geotechnical engineering works
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments in relation to geotechnical engineering projects
- Provides guidance to entry level engineers in geotechnical engineering with emphasis on soil and rock mechanics
- Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others
- Works as part of a ground and tunnelling engineering team with other engineers at the same functional level that can be from different EC offices (Poland, Spain, India, etc.)
- Works within interdisciplinary teams in infrastructure projects design
- Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
- Follow the AECOM’s Technical Quality Review procedure
- Identifies discrepancies in results in calculations and reports for geotechnical projects
- Performs quality control review of reports, design calculations and drawings for geotechnical projects
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision with emphasis on tunneling projects
- Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
