The Mid-Level Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ozone generation and ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems used in water and wastewater treatment applications. This role ensures optimal system performance, regulatory compliance, and reliable disinfection processes. The technician works independently at customer sites while supporting advanced oxidation processes and integrated treatment systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, and service ozone generation systems (corona discharge units, oxygen concentrators, ozone destruct units) and UV disinfection systems (low- and medium-pressure UV reactors)
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on system components including power supplies, ballasts, UV lamps, quartz sleeves, ozone generators, compressors, and associated piping/valves
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control issues, including PLC-based systems and remote monitoring platforms
- Monitor and optimize disinfection performance (UV dose, UV transmittance, ozone concentration, CT values)
- Clean and maintain UV reactor components (e.g., sleeve cleaning systems) and ozone system components (e.g., dielectric tubes, diffusers)
- Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control logic diagrams
- Support system startups, validation, and performance testing
- Maintain detailed service reports, compliance documentation, and regulatory logs
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, especially around high voltage systems, oxidizing gases, and confined spaces
- Train customers on system operation, routine maintenance, and safety procedures
