JOB OVERVIEW
Provide services and support as an Engineering Functional Area Electrical Engineer [Construction Discipline Engineer (CDE) – Electrical (Field Engineer)] (CO102) under Labor Category: Construction Discipline Engineer at Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina. Electrical Engineer [Construction Discipline Engineer (CDE) – Electrical (Field Engineer)] - Engineering (CO102) works collaboratively as part of the ProSidian Engagement Team as Exempt personnel. Dedicated Planned Labor Hours (DPLH) of 2080 Straight Time (ST) Estimated Annual Quantity (Hrs. Per Yr.) | 300 Overtime Time (OT) Estimated Annual Quantity (Hrs. Per Yr.). This is a Labor Hour Subcontract or Contract W-2 (IRS-1099) Position, and ProSidian reserves the right to convert to a Full-Time ProSidian-employed W-2 Position. The role(s) are located at Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina with identified Work Site Address (121 Richland Ave E, Aiken, SC 29801, USA) providing Engineering functions working to provide BOA Support Services for multiple department requirement Service Areas (SA) for Savannah River Remediation LLC (The SRMC/LW Contractor) at the U.S. Department of Energy | Savannah River Site (DOE-SRS) in Aiken, SC to support the evolving needs of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - Electrical Engineer [Construction Discipline Engineer (CDE) – Electrical (Field Engineer)] - Engineering (CO102)
Electrical Engineer - Construction Discipline Engineer [Field Engineer] is responsible for planning and technical oversight of field construction activities within a specified discipline associated with procurement, fabrication, installation, modification, and maintenance of systems and components.
- Coordinates with Design agencies to ensure timely issuance of new designs or design changes.
- Walks down and reviews designs for constructability, resolves design problems encountered in the field during construction, and meets with Design Engineers to discuss solutions.
- Inspects / verifies materials, equipment, and construction workmanship and assures compliance with drawings, specifications, and code requirements.
- Coordinates with Quality Control to ensure the installation meets the requirements.
- Participates in turnover activities. Supports/ participates in start-up and functional check-out of equipment and systems.
Position requires a thorough understanding of Construction Engineering principles and the ability to apply them to field conditions. Experience in the preparation of computer-based construction work execution plans (work Packages) including job-specific hazards analysis, i.e., Asset Suite and Assisted Hazard Analysis or equivalent
Construction Discipline Engineer Electrical
The position requires the following specific requirements:
- Thorough understanding of Construction Electrical Engineering principles and the ability to apply these principles to field conditions
- Familiar with the National Electric Code (NEC). Candidate shall be familiar with power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and be capable of reading schematics (motors, pumps, distribution centers, etc.)
- Knowledge of SRS-specific electrical guides and standards is a plus
- Experienced in radiological work planning and hazard analysis is desirable
- Capable of climbing and spending extended periods of time in the field
- Capable of obtaining qualification to work in radiological work areas
Position Responsibilities:
DESIGN OUTPUT CONSTRUCTABILITY REVIEWS
- Review design output and vendor documents
- Field walk-down with design engineers
- Verify design constructability including procedure and code compliance
- Verify field conditions vs. Design output
- Verify material availability
- Submit constructability comments
- Track comments to resolution
- Support project team design review meetings
FIELD MATERIAL TAKE-OFF & PROCUREMENT SUPPORT
- Develop/expedite bill of materials (BOM)
- Track the progress/status of material delivery
- Coordinate delivery of material to the field
- Verification of received material vs. Ordered material
WORK EXECUTION PLAN DEVELOPMENT
- Walkdowns with craft supervision & support groups.
- Develop installation sequence
- Generate work instructions
- Generate inspection and test records or coordinate with quality control. Understand layout/survey needs and generate layout/survey requests. Generate a hazard analysis for field execution of the construction scope. Support/lead team hazard analysis review meetings

WORK EXECUTION PLAN REVIEW & APPROVAL
- Attend I chair execution plan review meetings.
- Develop routing list for hazards analysis approval.
- Develop routing list for work plan approval
- Coordinate and expedite work package approval, routing, and disposition comments to the work execution plan.
- Assemble approved work execution plan
- Provide status & update of work execution plan in the SRS work control passport system
WORK EXECUTION FIELD COVERAGE & SUPPORT
- Lead pre-job briefings with craft workers
- Perform task-ready walk-down with craft supervision
- Verify quantities of installed commodities
- Coordinate daily field support
- Expedite / order material as required
- Coordinate material testing
- Coordinate and status shop fabrication in support of field execution
- Perform field inspections
- Identify and coordinate resolution of field installation issues
WORK EXECUTION PLAN CLOSURE
- Generate design completion notices
- Ensure accuracy of work execution plan status
- Close all required permits
- Close work execution plan documentation
