Reporting to the Section Supervisor, a laboratory technician will be primarily responsible for sample preparation and involved in some analysis and other lab duties.
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
Receive and sort soil and water samples, assign tests in accordance with the LIMS database and prepare batch sheets in Microsoft Excel.
Weigh samples and transfer subsamples to the appropriate departments in the laboratory
Extract analytes from water/soil samples as directed by the Standard Operating Procedures.
Ensure traceability of samples prepared or vialled.
Perform quality control tests.
Prioritise samples accordingly as per turn around times (urgent samples).
Treat quarantine samples in accordance with quarantine procedures as directed by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) approved representative.
Discard waste in accordance with safety and environmental considerations.
