BrownfieldRetrofit Engineer
- Lead equipment modernization for legacy production equipment and control systems
- covers the full chain from original equipment state, through library validation, to hardware commissioning — combining deep PLC competence with project management and industrial deployment capability.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Original Equipment Understanding & Assessment
- Digest and understand original equipment state — mechanical function, electrical schematics, control logic, and underlying process intent — as the baseline for any upgrade decision.
- Conduct technical assessment and modernization roadmap for legacy equipment, focusing on Brownfield feasibility and risk control.
2. Project Management
- Manage Brownfield upgrade projects — scope, schedule, resources, risk, and stakeholder coordination across TEF3, production, and external partners.
- Track milestones, dependencies, and deliverables against the WP0 roadmap; escalate risks and drive mitigation.
3. Test Bench & Legacy Communication
- Establish test benches and validation environments for legacy components, enabling communication control testing before migration.
- Operate the AI-assisted conversion tool to generate candidate Nexeed Automation library blocks and control programs from legacy sources.
4. AI Tool Usage & Library Validation
- Operate the AI-assisted conversion tool to generate candidate Nexeed Automation library blocks and control programs from legacy sources.
- Read, review, and validate the generated library code — verify functional equivalence against legacy baselines and ensure correctness before release.
- Build and standardize reusable PLC libraries for the new platform, accumulating in-house library capability over successive upgrades.
5. Hardware Commissioning & Field Deployment
- Lead hardware commissioning — integrate PLC, peripherals, drives, safety, and mechanical interfaces; perform FAT, SAT, and ramp-up support.
- Troubleshoot field issues across hardware, bus, PLC logic, HMI, MES, and mechanical interaction layers.
- Document and transfer knowledge to TEF3 colleagues, enabling the team to sustain upgraded systems independently.
