AECOM is seeking a Health and Safety Site Representative to support a major hydroelectric infrastructure project in the Fredericton region. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a strong health and safety culture throughout all phases of project execution, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, client requirements, and project-specific safety standards.
Working closely with project management, construction teams, contractors, and joint venture partners, the Health and Safety Site Representative will play a key role in supporting safe work practices and fostering continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and observations to verify compliance with project safety requirements, applicable legislation, and company policies.
- Promote a proactive health and safety culture through daily engagement with project personnel and contractors.
- Identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor compliance with safe work procedures, permits, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and regulatory obligations, before work begins.
- Participate in incident, injury, near-miss, and environmental event investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action follow-up.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project-specific health and safety plans, procedures, and programs.
- Make recommendations to management for incident prevention and safety program activities.
- Monitor the effectiveness of safety programs and procedures.
- Facilitate or participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and awareness campaigns and maintain a strong field presence.
- Provide guidance and coaching to supervisors, contractors, and workers on safe work practices and hazard mitigation.
- Participate in resolving workplace refusals and work stoppages.
- Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, incident documentation, and project statistics.
- Support project management in achieving health and safety objectives and key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with client representatives, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders as required.
