The role's mission is to architect and govern the self-service framework that enables business domains to build their own analytics solutions on top of our central Databricks data foundation. By defining and enforcing standards for this consumption layer and the interface to downstream BI tools, you ensure our self-service model is scalable, secure, and efficient, empowering business domains to build high-performing reports and derived data products.
Core responsibilities
• Advise business domains on best practices for leveraging central data products and define BI
architectures (e.g. business logic placement), providing hands-on implementation support for
critical, short-term requests.
• Establish and enforce design security, and performance standards for the Databricks consumption
layer and its connection to downstream BI tools, creating the official "rulebook" for self-service
analytics.
• Collaborate closely with the Databricks PO to co-design "report-ready" data products, ensuring
platform capabilities (e.g. Unity Catalog) are optimized for seamless and secure BI consumption.
• Drive the adoption of best practices by creating templates, reference architectures, and
training materials. Foster a global community of practice for data analysts and power users.
• Take ownership of the technical and logical interface between Databricks and Power BI, defining
optimal connectivity patterns and assisting directly in resolving urgent performance bottlenecks.
