EHS SpecialistJob Description Summary
Reporting to Site manager, the Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist works within a facility management organization that provides a variety of O&M services that includes R&D Labs, critical data environments and commercial office space. This role is responsible for completing all assigned tasks while maintaining a constant focus on environmental, health and safety requirements.Job Description
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Inspectsitefor batteries. Pickup batteries from all AMD locations. Package and prepare batteries per shipping regulations. Coordinate batteries shipment, schedule shipments, take photographs of shipments and sign on behalf of AMD. Submit documentation toonsiteAMD EHS Engineer.
Inspectsitefor electronic waste. Pickup electronic waste from all AMD locations and deliver to the central e-waste collection area. Coordinate shipments of electronic waste. Submit documentation toonsiteAMD EHS Engineer.
Inspectsitefor hazardous waste. Pickup hazardous waste from all AMD locations. Package and prepare hazardous waste per hazardous waste regulations. Coordinate shipments of hazardous waste. Submit documentation toonsiteAMD EHS Engineer.
Perform site chemical inventories to support provincial chemical reporting requirements.
Perform ventilation surveys and verify the DA lab hood facevelocities
Support labs with empty box management (shipping and identification of heavy combustible storage locations.)Support labs for waste disposal/reclaim by identification and shipping of waste andreclaim.
Inspect labs for personal/residential equipment used for industrial use. (i.esmall clips on cooling fans to cool test equipment.)
Submitrequestto CW staff to manage issues found inside the lab.
Perform monthly indoor EHS inspections such as monthly indoor inspection, site walk through (inside and outside site), inspect the UPS room weekly, monthly fire extinguisher inspection, eye wash station/shower, First aid kit and AED inspection.
Inspect all soldering stations weekly to ensure engineers are not using lead solder. Inspect ventilation filters and report results to EHSengineer(i.ePPEviolations, photos, etc.)
Perform noise surveys.
Update and support all evacuation planning, map production, assembly area marking, etc.
Review, approve and audit hot work activities.
Submit energy metrics inonlinetool. This includes electricity, water, waste, etc.
Perform Air Permit equipment inventory.
Identifyworkspace ergonomic concerns.
Perform refrigerant inventory and work mechanical team toidentifyall HVAC equipment withleaks
Attend compliance audits and work to correct any alleged violationsidentified.
Distribute and Safekeep COVID PPE such asmaskand gloves.
Comply withcompany policies and safety requirements/programs.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School graduate, GED, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 2 years EHS experience
Must have flexibility to work overtime and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays, and serve on an on-call basis, as may be dictated by the needs of thebusiness
Must be able to use personal computers/MS Office experiencerequired
Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, journals, technical, procedures, or governmentalregulations
Ability to effectively communicate to management and clientrepresentatives
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Mustpossessa validdriverlicense.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depthperceptionand ability to adjust focus. WORK CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee isfrequentlyexposed to moving mechanical parts, high, unsafe places, fumes/airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
The noise level in the work environment isfrequentlyloud.
