We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director, Engineering to join our Engineering leadership team.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Assistant Director, Engineering will support the strategic and day-to-day leadership of the Engineering & Maintenance Department. This role is responsible for assisting with the planning, coordination, execution, and continuous improvement of maintenance operations across the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, food and beverage outlets, kitchens, meeting spaces, spa, pools, back-of-house areas, mechanical rooms, plant operations, and critical building systems.
The successful candidate must bring strong hospitality engineering experience, proven management capability, and advanced technical understanding of MEP systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, heating systems, domestic hot water, fire/life safety, controls, and building automation systems.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a technically strong, service-driven leader who can manage people, systems, contractors, budgets, audits, emergencies, and competing priorities in a 24/7 luxury hotel environment.
Competitive Salary: $107,000-$110,000 gross annually, based on previous experience & education
Job Duties Include:
- Support the Director of Engineering in the strategic and day-to-day leadership of the Engineering & Maintenance Department, providing operational leadership in their absence while ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a 24/7 luxury resort.
- Lead, coach, schedule, and develop a diverse team of skilled trades and maintenance professionals, overseeing daily operations, responding to guest and operational maintenance requests, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and exceptional service.
- Oversee comprehensive preventive maintenance programs and provide technical leadership for all major building systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, plumbing, electrical distribution, fire/life safety, building automation, and other critical mechanical infrastructure to maximize system reliability and minimize downtime.
- Manage capital projects, renovations, asset lifecycle planning, contractor performance, purchasing, inventory, and departmental budgets while driving cost-effective maintenance practices, energy conservation initiatives, and long-term infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, fire, building code, and brand standards by leading audits, maintaining engineering documentation, supporting regulatory inspections, and promoting best practices in risk management and workplace safety.
- Partner closely with operational departments across the hotel to deliver exceptional guest experiences, respond to emergency situations and critical system failures, support business continuity, and continuously improve maintenance processes, operational performance, and colleague engagement.
