What Will I Be Doing?
Here are just a few things you can expect to do daily:
Teammembermust be able to work in ateam orientedand safety conscious environment. “Safety First” expectations include, but are not limited to, PJHA process, Observation process, and compliance with all company / site safety guidelines and procedures.
Assigned tasks list to include, but not limited to, repairs and preventive maintenance on tanks, vessels, pipingsystemsand structural systems.
Rigging and lifting of equipment, tools,partsand assembliesin accordance withRigging and Lifting policy
This position requires the employee to work without supervision.
Tasks also include layout and fabrication of new and replacement piping systems, as well as installation of valves and related piping equipment. Repairs and preventive maintenance to be performed inconformancewith established standards.
Must have working knowledge of the following topics: blueprint reading, ability to draw and interpret isometric diagrams, be able to be certified to B31.1 and B31.3 Pipe Welding Code in 6-G position in carbon and stainless steel. Lay out, position, andsecuresparts and assemblies according to specifications
Tack-welds and
weldscomponents and assemblies using GTAW, SMAW, MIG and gas welding processes. Use plasma machine, acetylene torch, band saw and cut off machines to size material. Use pipe threading and cutting machine to prep threaded pipe.
Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, usingmicrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.Removesrough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
Deciphers engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.Identifiesrequired equipment and weldingmethod, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
Works from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc.utilizingfall protection equipment as necessary to complete tasks.
Must be able tooperateand have knowledge of simple and complex heavy industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, boom lifts, and skid loaders.
Work in confined spaces
Must have the flexibility to work all shifts including holidays and weekends as demanded by the job.
Perform other tasks, including but not limited to mechanical repairs and maintenance, as assigned by Supervisor
Ensurescompliance with all company / customer regulations, policies, and procedures.
Achieve performance expectations set forth as part of performance appraisals to include employee development planning.
Maintainpersonal tools required for your job to include an up to date documented personal tool list. Required toollistingto be supplied as part of employment.
Meetphysicalrequirements of the job. Physical requirementsofthe job will be provided to you prior to employment.
Perform assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
Accurate andtimelyadministrative duties to include, but not limited to, time accounting and work order completion.
Special Note: This job description summarizes the duties of two types of welders. “Pipe Fitters” perform much of the preparation work while “Pipe Welders” are certified and perform the actual welding.We are currently seeking an individual who is certified,willingand able to perform the duties of both Pipe Fitter and Pipe Welder.
