The Canadian Translation Specialist role is a one-year project role that is responsible for supporting the communications department with translation needs for the French-Canadian employee population. Translated copy must be accurate to maintain tone, style, and original meaning from English copy and align with translations on customer-facing materials including HR documents, payroll platforms and store materials like Shopinfo.
This role will also partner with the Corporate Communications and Fashion PR teams to review press materials to ensure accurate translations. The translation specialist will work in accordance with legal requirements and H&M standards, policies, and procedures to meet the expectations of customers and colleagues.
This position is based in Toronto, CA Support Office and reports to our Marketing Manager.
A Day in the Life
Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities*
- Responsible for translating all internal materials from English to Canadian French, while maintaining original tone of voice, style, and meaning. Materials include, but not limited to HR documents, payroll platforms and internal guides and newsletters.
- Proofread and validate NA translations to ensure accuracy and consistency of tone of voice and meaning.
- Support the Corporate Communications and Fashion PR teams to review translations from agencies and incorporate feedback, resolving conflicts/inconsistencies and addressing concerns from stakeholders
- Produce quality copy quickly, efficiently, and against deadlines
- Maintain digital copy bank, keeping track of all Canadian French translations made in an organized manner
- Has full knowledge on HQ guidelines, legal requirements, and H&M copy best practices
- Take initiative to proactively address business needs and find efficiencies
- Drive changes in current ways of working, methods, tools, or projects to improve the business in an Omni-channel way
