Position Overview
The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising External Development Works (ED Works) and Commercial Building Façade Works. The role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on site experience, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders including design teams, consultants, contractors, and site execution teams. The ideal candidate must have proven experience in building external development (roads, pavements, utilities, landscaping) as well as façade systems (glazing, ACP, curtain wall, cladding, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Drawing Review
- Review architectural, structural, landscape, utility, and façade drawings.
- Identify discrepancies, propose technical solutions, and coordinate changes with consultants.
- Ensure all drawings and designs comply with project specifications, codes, and standards.
2. Coordination (Design & Site)
- Coordinate with design consultants, façade vendors, architects, and internal teams.
- Conduct technical meetings to resolve design issues and ensure smooth workflow.
- Liaise with site execution teams to ensure timely access, sequencing, and material availability.
3. Method Statement Preparation
- Prepare or review method statements and work procedures for ED & façade works.
- Ensure method statements address safety, quality, and technical requirements.
- Support the planning of mock-ups and trials where required.
4. Planning & Scheduling
- Develop work schedules for external development and façade activities.
- Track progress as per project timelines and highlight delays with mitigation plans.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely delivery of façade materials, utilities, and ED components.
5. Survey & Layout
- Conduct site surveys using total station/levels to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Verify setting-out of façade grids, utility lines, road alignments, and landscape works.
6. Site Execution
- Execute external development works such as road works, footpaths, drainage, water supply lines, STP/UG sump connections, landscape elements, etc.
- Oversee façade installation including glazing, ACP, curtain walls, louvers, canopies, and associated support systems.
- Ensure work is executed as per drawings, method statements, and specifications.
7. Resource Management
- Plan and allocate manpower, machinery, tools, and materials efficiently.
- Review subcontractor performance and ensure adherence to schedule and quality.
8. Quality Management
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures for ED & façade works.
- Conduct inspections, ensure compliance with approved materials, and raise NCRs if needed.
- Ensure proper documentation including ITPs, checklists, and test reports.
9. Safety Management
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and site safety protocols.
- Conduct toolbox talks, identify hazards, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Coordinate with the EHS team for risk assessments related to façade and ED works.
10. Testing & Commissioning
- Plan and supervise testing activities for utilities, façade systems, drainage networks, lighting, etc.
- Ensure commissioning is carried out as per project requirements and manufacturer guidelines.
11. Handover Documentation
- Prepare complete handover documentation including as‑built drawings, test reports, warranties, and O&M manuals.
- Support client/consultant inspections during the handover stage.
- Ensure all snag points are resolved within timelines.
