The Logistics Coordinator has the responsibility to manage and oversee all activities related to transfer of the equipment and commodities purchased by the company from point of manufacture to construction site or module yard using multi-modal means of transport.
Responsibilities
- Provide freight cost estimates to support estimate development and comparison of bids.
- Participate in project execution planning to develop the best economical logistics approach.
- Evaluate Supplier's transportation approach for commercial or schedule impact.
- Develop traffic instructions in coordination with Freight Forwarding Agencies.
- Prepare Project Routing Guides for routine and less-than-truckload shipments (LTL).
- Provide shipping durations to scheduling for the planned modes of transportation.
- Communicate with transportation regulatory agencies and service providers.
- Prepare the scope of work for the RFP / RFQ for transportation and logistics services.
- Plan as required for heavy duty rail car and motor vehicle equipment.
- Negotiate, prepare and execute any agreements required for specialized carrier service.
- Provide on-site support, as required, for special movements and handling.
- Process loss, damage and overcharge claims with domestic and international carriers.
- Arrange customs clearance and unloading of materials and equipment.
- Coordination for transport of imported materials to construction sites.
