The Director will provide strategic leadership and oversight for planning, execution, and monitoring of urban development initiatives across cities and regions. The role is responsible for driving sustainable urban growth, policy implementation, infrastructure development, stakeholder coordination, and alignment with national and state-level urban development goals.
This position requires a strong blend of policy understanding, strategic planning, program execution, and leadership, operating from the corporate office while coordinating with regional/project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Leadership
- Define and drive the organization’s urban development strategy aligned with smart cities, sustainable urbanization, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- Provide strategic direction for urban planning, housing, transport, sanitation, utilities, and public infrastructure programs.
- Support long-term city development master plans, investment roadmaps, and urban transformation initiatives.
Program & Project Oversight
- Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of large-scale urban development projects and programs.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with approved standards and policies.
- Review and approve project frameworks, DPRs, implementation models (PPP, EPC, HAM, etc.), and funding mechanisms.
Policy, Governance & Compliance
- Interpret and guide implementation of central and state government urban policies, schemes, and missions.
- Ensure compliance with urban laws, development regulations, environmental norms, and statutory requirements.
- Provide inputs for policy reforms, guidelines, and governance frameworks related to urban development.
Stakeholder & Institutional Coordination
- Act as senior interface with government bodies, urban local authorities, regulators, multilateral agencies, consultants, and private partners.
- Lead coordination with ministries, state departments, municipal corporations, and external stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in high-level meetings, forums, and presentations.
Financial & Resource Management
- Oversee budgeting, fund utilization, and financial performance of urban development programs.
- Support project financing strategies including government funding, PPPs, donor agencies, and multilateral funding.
- Review MIS, progress reports, and performance dashboards for senior leadership.
Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Lead and mentor senior managers, project heads, and technical teams.
- Build institutional capacity through training, systems strengthening, and adoption of best practices.
- Foster a performance-driven and collaborative work culture.
