The Survey Technician position supports the Survey Department by performing fieldwork and operating survey equipment and can work outdoors as part of a field crew in varying conditions and locations.
· Strong knowledge of surveying equipment.
· Operate surveying equipment (total stations, GPS, data collectors, levels, etc.).
· Interact and communicate effectively with fellow team members.
· Perform basic computations.
· Maintain, charge, and calibrate equipment.
· Record field notes and sketches in the field books.
· Clear brush and carry equipment and supplies during fieldwork.
· Download data and perform limited CADD work.
· Strong communication skills.
· Can read and understand civil engineering plans, maps, and specifications.
· Perform mathematics such as algebra, geometry, and trigonometry used in field survey analyses.
· Ability to understand, interpret, and teach policies, technical concepts, and designs.
· Can work outdoors in varying weather conditions, terrain, and geographies.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
· Ability to travel and stay out of town overnight if specific jobs require due to travel distances.
· Willing to work long days, out of town, evenings/weekends when required.
