A Day in the Life
The Neurodiagnostic Department at Munson Medical Center offers a unique opportunity to begin a career in Neurodiagnostic Technology through a partnership with the Institute of Health Sciences. Selected candidates will be supported in enrolling in the Electroneurodiagnostic Technology (EEG) Program, a nationally recognized distance-learning program designed for adult learners pursuing careers in allied health.
Munson Medical Center will assist selected candidates with the enrollment process and provide hands-on clinical training while completing the 12-month program.
Program Structure
- One-year program combining online coursework and clinical training
- Instruction includes EEG (Electroencephalography), Evoked Potentials (EP), Polysomnography (PSG), and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
- Courses are delivered through web-based learning platforms, supplemented by one-on-one clinical instruction with a registered technologist
- Clinical training is completed onsite at Munson Medical Center
- Requires a minimum commitment of approximately 24 hours per week for clinical experience
Intern Duties
- Assists technologists with EEG procedures, including routine, continuous, and ambulatory recordings, in accordance with department policies and under appropriate supervision.
- Applies and removes EEG electrodes following demonstrated competency, with oversight from a registered technologist during studies.
- Transports outpatients between the main lobby and EEG lab as needed.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment by sanitizing equipment and restocking supplies per department standards.
- Completes daily administrative and office support tasks.
