Position Overview
KIPP Indy is seeking a passionate and engaging high school teacher to lead courses in College & Career Readiness and Personal Finance. This role is responsible for delivering rigorous, real-world instruction that equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully navigate postsecondary pathways and make informed financial decisions.
The ideal candidate is deeply committed to preparing students for life beyond high school by building competencies in goal setting, college and career exploration, financial literacy, and long-term planning. This teacher will foster independence, critical thinking, and responsible decision-making while supporting students in developing clear, actionable plans for their futures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction & Student Learning
- Plan and deliver rigorous, engaging, and standards-aligned instruction in College & Career Readiness and Personal Finance that prepares students for success beyond high school
- Design and execute well-structured lesson plans that include clear objectives, checks for understanding, and aligned assessments
- Teach and reinforce financial literacy as a critical life skill, including budgeting, credit, saving, investing, debt management, student loans, and long-term financial planning
- Create a classroom environment that emphasizes real-world application, helping students connect financial and postsecondary concepts to their lived experiences and future goals
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage all learners, including discussion, project-based learning, and application-based tasks
- Implement frequent formative and summative assessments to monitor student understanding and adjust instruction accordingly
- Analyze student data to drive instructional decisions and ensure all students are progressing toward mastery
- Establish and maintain strong classroom culture that reflects high expectations, consistency, and a belief in all students’ ability to succeed
- Provide targeted support and differentiation to meet the needs of all learners, including students with diverse academic and learning needs
- Continuously reflect on and improve instructional practice through feedback, coaching, and professional development
- Communicate with families regarding student progress as needed
Alignment to KIPP Forward
- Align classroom instruction to the postsecondary readiness goals and systems established by the KIPP Forward team
- Reinforce key milestones such as college awareness, career exploration, and financial literacy within daily instruction
- Collaborate with KIPP Forward staff to ensure consistency in messaging, expectations, and student supports
- Support students in building the knowledge and skills needed to engage meaningfully in KIPP Forward programming
