Pavago is seeking a highly detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to lead core accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support strategic financial decision-making.
This role goes beyond transactional accounting and bookkeeping. The Senior Accountant will own full-cycle accounting processes, support month-end close activities, maintain compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards, assist with audits, and help strengthen financial operations through process improvements and automation initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with operational discipline, financial analysis capabilities, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced remote environment.
• Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaids, payroll allocations, depreciation, deferred revenue, and intercompany transactions
• Maintain reconciliations across key balance sheet accounts including cash, AR, AP, inventory, and liabilities
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of all accounting records and supporting documentation
• Review ledger activity for anomalies, inconsistencies, or reconciliation issues
• Lead monthly and quarterly close processes and ensure timely completion within established deadlines
• Maintain detailed close checklists and coordinate cross-functional close activities
• Prepare trial balances and validate completeness of financial records
• Ensure all supporting schedules and reconciliations are completed accurately and on time
• Prepare monthly financial statements including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports
• Conduct variance analyses comparing actuals against budgets and forecasts
• Provide written commentary and actionable insights for leadership review
• Support management reporting, board reporting, and financial planning processes
• Prepare PBC (Prepared By Client) schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors
• Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards and internal accounting controls
• Support tax-related filings including sales tax, property tax, and corporate tax documentation
• Maintain organized, audit-ready accounting records and documentation
• Identify inefficiencies within accounting workflows and recommend automation improvements
• Assist with ERP optimization, accounting system improvements, and SOP development
• Improve reconciliation workflows, reporting accuracy, and operational scalability
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance operations
• Review and support work completed by staff accountants or bookkeepers
• Mentor junior accounting team members on reconciliations, reporting, and accounting treatment
• Partner closely with FP&A, operations, and leadership teams to align reporting and financial processes
• Support revenue recognition alignment and operational accounting coordination
• Strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent attention to detail
• Analytical thinker capable of translating financial data into actionable insights
• Highly organized and process-oriented with strong execution discipline
• Comfortable balancing hands-on accounting work with strategic financial support
• Collaborative communicator who works effectively across departments and leadership levels
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 4–5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS accounting principles
• Proficiency in accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, SAP, or similar ERP systems
• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, conditional formatting, and reconciliation templates
• Experience managing month-end close and financial reporting processes
• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting certification
• Experience with multi-entity consolidations and foreign currency accounting
• Background in SaaS, professional services, real estate, or multi-entity businesses
• Experience supporting ERP implementations or finance automation initiatives
• Familiarity with accounting workflow tools, dashboards, and reporting systems
A Senior Accountant’s day revolves around ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining compliance, and supporting operational decision-making. You will:
• Review bank feeds and reconcile transactions across accounts and systems
• Post accruals, payroll allocations, and journal entries
• Prepare financial statements and variance analyses for leadership review
• Monitor reconciliations and investigate anomalies or reporting discrepancies
• Collaborate with operations and FP&A teams on revenue recognition and budget alignment
• Support junior accounting staff through reviews and coaching
• Maintain close schedules, documentation, and audit-ready reporting processes
• Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reporting accuracy
