Position Overview
We are seeking to hire an Assistant Director, to join a team responsible for business development in Japan. Client relationship management is central to this role, which includes sales and marketing, along with delivery of EG services and ongoing communication with client staff. Supporting client needs together with growing client profitability are the primary objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver effective client service to Eurasia Group’s Japanese clients. Monitor and assure that the firm fulfills all contract obligations, while working proactively with members of the Japan team and the global firm to make sure our Japan clients access and utilize our political analysis and other products and services.
- Initiate new sales to new and existing clients and prospects. Product offerings include EG’s retainer-based (subscription) advisory services as well as ad hoc consultative services and bespoke public events
- Orchestrate and attend regular analysts’ briefings and meetings with Japanese clients by arranging meetings, putting together meeting notes and schedules, translating clients’ questions ahead of the meetings and sharing with analysts.
- Perform operational sales tasks such as preparing contract documents, writing activity reports, updating client databases, and helping to resolve client issues and concerns.
- Organize and send invitations to client events (virtually or in Tokyo) such as the annual GZERO Summit, ad-hoc receptions, and conference calls
- Communicate externally and internally while fulfilling clients’ day-to-day requests
- Support the publication and finalization of Japanese language deliverables and notifications
Qualification:
- Successful candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of working experience in a Japanese business environment, focused on business development, sales, and marketing.
- Through your career, you have developed the ability to assess Japanese business’ needs and have had experience building and supporting multiple client relationships.
- You are comfortable working collaboratively as well as independently.
- You will have a demonstrable familiarity with Japanese as well as US business culture, and a strong interest in foreign affairs and politics.
- Excellent communication skills and professionalism are expected characteristics for this role.
- Well developed organizational skills in the service of managing multiple tasks as well as clients with diverse priorities.
- minimum an undergraduate degree; higher degrees are valued but not strictly required.
- Advanced Japanese language skills are essential, native-level preferred. All applicants must be eligible to work in Japan.
