Job Summary
The A&R Operations Intern will support the A&R and Operations teams in managing the administrative and operational workflow of music releases. This role provides hands-on exposure to deal tracking, metadata management, producer and sample clearance processes, and cross-functional coordination with Legal, Finance, and Project Management. The intern will assist in ensuring that releases are properly documented, cleared, and ready for distribution.
This is an unpaid, part-time internship designed for current students receiving college credit. Interns must be eligible to work in the U.S. and available for 10–20 hours per week over a 3–4 month term.
Responsibilities
- Assist in tracking and updating deal information within internal systems (e.g., Salesforce, spreadsheets)
- Support the intake and organization of project and release information, including artist, producer, and song metadata
- Help monitor producer, side-artist, and sample clearance statuses to ensure compliance prior to release
- Conduct basic research on agreements, splits, and rights ownership to support A&R Admin and Legal teams
- Assist in preparing internal summaries of deals, including key terms and rights structures
- Help identify missing or inconsistent data and flag issues to the appropriate teams
- Support cross-functional communication between A&R, Legal, Finance, and Project Management teams
- Assist with organizing documentation and maintaining accurate records of agreements and releases
- Provide general administrative support for A&R and Operations workflows
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of the music industry (artists, producers, releases)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs) or Microsoft Excel
- Interest in music operations, publishing, and digital distribution
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a University or other academic program (Business, Music Business, or related field preferred)
- Prior internship or experience in music, media, or administrative roles is a plus
- Familiarity with DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) is a plus
- Exposure to music publishing, licensing, or metadata management is a plus
