What You'll Do
Chess.com Video Editors are responsible for producing high-quality, engaging chess content for a variety of digital platforms. This role requires a blend of highly trained technical editing skill, creative storytelling, and a keen understanding of social media trends. You'll transform raw footage into compelling videos that captivate the global chess community and align with the Chess.com brand.
- Edit and assemble raw video footage into polished short-form and long-form content optimized for various social media platforms (e.g., YouTube, TikTok, Instagram)
- Enhance video content through skillful application of motion graphics, cuts, transitions, color correction, audio mixing, visual effects, and graphic overlays
- Research and incorporate current social media trends and innovative editing techniques to keep content fresh and relevant
- Review raw footage from tournaments and streams to identify key storylines, viral moments, and compelling highlights for standalone content
- Analyze video performance metrics to refine editing style, pacing, and storytelling approaches for maximum audience impact and retention
- Ensure all final video assets align with Chess.com's brand guidelines, visual aesthetics, and consistent tone of voice
- Maintain flexibility in your schedule, including off-hours and weekends
- This is a full-time opportunity

About You
- Advanced proficiency in the full Adobe Suite, with specialization in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Blender, and Cinema 4D
- Demonstrated understanding of YouTube video optimization and content strategy for major social media platforms
- Strong storytelling skills with a keen sense of pacing, timing, and narrative structure
- Deep awareness of current internet culture, memes, and viral video trends
- Deep understanding of the rules, terminology, notation, and culture of chess
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Prior professional experience editing content for chess, esports, or traditional sports is highly desirable
