Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.
Who The Client Is: A commercial construction business specialising in carpentry and plastering across residential, commercial and high-end apartment blocks.
Role Overview: The Estimator will be responsible for receiving and managing tenders, performing quantity takeoffs for plastering and carpentry scopes, and producing accurate estimates ready for review. Over time, the role may expand to include tender submission support and materials sourcing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and receive incoming tender invitations via EstimateOne.
- Coordinate with builders via email to obtain plans, drawings, and scope documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for plastering and carpentry works (wall types, ceiling types, plasterboard, etc.) using PlanSwift and/or Bluebeam.
- Prepare and maintain a tender tracking spreadsheet or program showing all active jobs and submission deadlines.
- Compile estimates and present them to the team for review and sign-off prior to submission.
- Assist with formatting and lodging tender submissions (progressing to autonomous submission over time).
- Assist with sourcing and pricing materials as the role matures.
- Communicate proactively with the internal team via email and/or agreed platforms.
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in construction estimating, ideally with exposure to Australian commercial projects.
- Demonstrated experience using PlanSwift and/or Bluebeam for quantity takeoffs.
- Familiarity with EstimateOne or similar tendering platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight tender deadlines.
- Excellent written English communication skills, capable of corresponding professionally with Australian builders and subcontractors.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
- Experience working remotely and asynchronously.
- Experience with Australian clients or Australian construction standards preferred.
Work Arrangement & Expectations:
This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:
- Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
- Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
