At TYTAN, we aim to set a global standard in autonomous air defense with AI-driven, cost-efficient systems that counter unmanned aerial threats at scale. We protect people. We protect critical infrastructure. We protect European sovereignty.
We are looking for a Senior Avionics Engineer to define, implement, and validate the avionics architecture of advanced UAV platforms. You will be responsible for integrating autonomy, GNC, and command & control (C2) into a coherent, reliable onboard system across fixed-wing, VTOL and transitioning aircrafts.
This role is hands-on, system-level, and deployment-focused. You will work at the intersection of hardware and software, ensuring that all onboard systems communicate reliably and perform in real operational environments. You will act as a technical sparring partner across avionics and system integration, contributing experience, pragmatism, and strong engineering judgment.
Define and own the end-to-end avionics architecture for UAV platforms, from concept to operational deployment
Define and implement system-level integration of flight control (GNC), autonomy stacks, and C2 links
Design and manage onboard communication architectures (e.g., MAVLink, DDS, Ethernet, CAN, serial protocols)
Integrate and validate flight controllers, companion computers, sensors, radios, and payload systems
Ensure robust data flow, synchronization, and fault-tolerant behavior across all subsystems
Take avionics systems from lab setup to real aircraft, ensuring reliable sim-to-real and bench-to-flight transition
Lead and support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and system-level testing, including debugging complex integration issues
Work closely with GNC, autonomy, C2, and EWIS/electrical teams to ensure tight system coupling and clean interfaces
Support flight testing, including system bring-up, monitoring, logging, and post-flight analysis
Define and implement system monitoring, health checks, and fail-safe strategies
Document system architectures, interfaces, and integration workflows in a clear and maintainable way
Support integration into customer and operational environments, including Bundeswehr (Bw) requirements
