About CORTO
We are CORTO, a cutting-edge software company dedicated to revolutionising the legal industry. Our mission is to empower legal practitioners with AI-driven solutions that streamline their workflow, boost productivity, and provide more efficient client service.
Our team of AI experts and engineers collaborate to develop intelligent software tailored to the unique needs of lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants.
Our innovative AI solutions automate routine tasks, simplify document management, and enhance decision-making, allowing legal professionals to focus on what they do best—providing expert legal counsel.
We’re rapidly scaling from 80 to 150+ employees, with a highly technical workforce where around 90% of the team are developers and engineers. Working alongside our Sydney-based team of passionate high achievers, you’ll join a fast-growing technology business where things rarely stay the same for long - and if you’re smart, caring, and ambitious, you’ll be in great company.
What you’ll do
You'll join our Global Forms Automation product team - a cross-functional team of backend developers, business analysts, and lawyers building global form automations. This work is part of ATI Group's broader agentic AI initiative, led by founder Christian Beck, a global LegalTech pioneer who founded LEAP Legal Software in 1992 and is now shaping the future of AI in legal.
As a Senior UI/UX Designer you’re here to define how lawyers experience our form automation products - from the first wireframe to the shipped UI - iterating quickly on real user feedback. Attention to detail matters, but we're not looking for a pixel-perfectionist. We want someone pragmatic who obsesses over the user's workflow and helps the team ship working software.
To make this happen you will
- Work directly with Product Director to map the user journey and shape the UX
- Turn fuzzy requirements into clear flows, wireframes and clickable prototypes – sketches, Figma, whatever gets the idea across fastest
- Design production UIs using ShadCN-UI as the frontend framework, keeping customisation minimal – consistency, speed and maintainability beat bespoke styling
- Make pragmatic calls on what to build, what to reuse from ShadCN, and what genuinely warrants a custom component – default to the library
- Partner with full-stack developers on what is possible so the UI and services evolve together, not in conflict
- Sit with lawyers and business analysts to watch them use what has been built, then cut what doesn’t work and sharpen what does
- Present UX decisions, prototypes and progress clearly to internal teams and leadership, and defend the trade-offs
- Help establish frontend patterns and conventions the team can build on as the product scales
What you’ll bring
- You’ve repeatedly shipped polished, usable interfaces for real products – owning the UX thinking, and moving from whiteboard to working UI quickly
- Strong fluency with React and the modern frontend ecosystem – component architecture, state management, API integration;
- Hands-on experience with ShadCN-UI (or a very similar Tailwind-based component library), with a clear point of view on when to customise and when to leave it alone
- Genuine UX instincts – you can map a user journey, spot friction and justify layout and flow decisions
- Pragmatic about aesthetics – you’d rather ship something good today than something beautiful in three weeks
- Clear and credible with senior leadership, lawyers and engineers alike – you own problems end-to-end across disciplines
Even better if you have
- Experience designing for forms, questionnaires, multi-step flows or document automation interfaces
- Exposure to AI-powered products – designing UX around LLM outputs, streaming responses and handling uncertainty
You are the type of person who
- Defaults to the user every time – the busy lawyer with no patience for a clunky form is the one you’re designing for
- You obsess over the user’s workflow
- Takes the call and owns it – clear with leadership, lawyers and engineers, and willing to defend the trade-offs you make
- You aim to ship fast...and then continually improve both UX and the UI visuals
CORTO is an inclusive, people-first company committed to breaking down institutional barriers that keep people from reaching their potential. If you meet some, but not all the requirements above, we encourage you to still submit your application.
