eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. Our next-generation computing machines under development will be able to find solutions to problems that are out of reach today, thus enabling new innovative products and services for a brighter future.
To strengthen our theory team, we are looking for a Theoretical Physicist – Quantum Gate Design & Validation (f/m/d).
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will develop and analyze high-fidelity quantum gate mechanisms for trapped-ion processors. You will contribute to the theoretical modeling of physical interactions, translate them into optimized hardware-aware schemes, and collaborate with the experimental team for their implementation and validation. A key component of the position is contributing to performance benchmarking, ensuring consistency between theoretical predictions, numerical simulations, and experimental results.
Develop theoretical models for single- and multi-qubit gate operations
Analyze and optimize gate performance under realistic noise conditions
Design and refine pulse schemes for robust quantum control
Develop effective noise models connecting microscopic physical processes circuit simulators towards QEC and quantum applications
Contribute to performance benchmarking and model validation
Work at the interface between hardware and theory to guide device development and requirements engineering
