In this role, you will be a core member of the WordPress Infrastructure team. We are responsible for the hosting of multiple public facing websites, among them the highly visible https://home.cern. By joining us, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of the infrastructure, and will support the websites hosted on that infrastructure.
Your responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the WordPress infrastructure components and tools responsible for the service delivery automation.
- Provide support to the WordPress website owners and developers, participate in the user support activities.
- Actively engage in the internal WordPress community, and assist the stakeholders.
- Improve the monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions in place to guarantee high availability and performance.
- Contribute to the global evolution of web hosting infrastructure, beyond WordPress.

Your profile
- Experience with version control systems and CI/CD workflows.
- Experience with container deployment and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes / OpenShift.
- Familiarity with the Kubernetes operator pattern.
- Previous experience managing CMS (e.g. Drupal, WordPress, Joomla) platforms or other PHP based software is desirable.
- Previous experience with observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, InfluxDB, Grafana) is a plus.
Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive mindset to identify challenges and drive innovative solutions.
- Good communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Strong commitment to user satisfaction, actively seeking feedback and collaborating with users to continuously improve services.
- Linux and Bash scripting.
- Programming in GoLang and Python; PHP will be a plus.
- Git, CI/CD tools, test and deployment automation.
- Container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, OpenShift etc.).
- Knowledge of Web Content Management Systems would be an asset.
- Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Software or Computer Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
- Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
