Position Summary
As an Operating Engineer in our Plant Operations group, you will be responsible for the ongoing operation, maintenance, and optimization of essential CBN facility equipment.
Canadian Bank Note is deemed to be part of Canada’s infrastructure, and it is essential that our facilities remain in a state of operational readiness to ensure we are able to deliver our suite of products (bank notes, passports, DL/ID’s, etc.) to federal and provincial/territorial governments.
Responsibilities
- Operate and Monitor Equipment
- Facility Equipment: Boilers, chillers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, humidifiers, packaged HVAC units, pumps etc.,
- Control Systems: Operate automated or computerized control systems for boilers, generators, and other equipment.
- Monitoring: Regularly check gauges, meters, chemistry levels, and alarms to ensure equipment is functioning correctly and efficiently.
- Adjustments: Make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance and safety.
- Maintenance and Repairs
- Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues before they become serious problems.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, alignment and replacing worn parts.
- Repairs: Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions, including replacing faulty components and adjusting systems. Engaging with support contractors as required.
- Technical Document Review: Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, P&ID etc.
- Data Tracking and Reporting
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of equipment operation, maintenance activities, and safety checks.
- Data Analysis: Analyze data from equipment to identify trends and potential areas for improvement.
- Reporting: Report on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and compliance with safety regulations, and areas for improvement
- Safety and Compliance
- Safety Protocols: Follow strict safety protocols to ensure the safe operation of all equipment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, such as equipment failures or safety incidents, quickly and effectively.
