The Mine Overseer has the Legal accountability with a 2.14.1 and a 2.13.12 appointment in terms of the MHSA section 26 of 1996. The main responsibility of this role is to ensure that a dedicated section of the operational process operates effectively from a current and future best practice perspective, with a time frame of 1-2 years. The role of the Mine Overseer is therefore to manage and co-ordinate the following: - Mining process planning, preparing and breaking predetermined blocks of ground, efficiently and safely. - Delivering quality ore to the ore pass as agreed. - Review and introduce mining best practices to enhance performance efficiencies over long term. - Negotiate with Engineering Department – source and supply determined material to operations. - Alignment of operational performances both in stope and development to the overall Operational Area plans contribute to the effective management of the Operational Area. The Mine Overseer therefore has the accountability to manage and plan for the development & provision of mining work practices, structures and services, which will contribute to the overall safety, health, and sustained profitability of the Operational Area.
