OVERVIEW
Marathon Petroleum Company’s Illinois Refining Division in Robinson, IL is seeking aMechanical Reliability Engineer. TheMechanical Reliability Engineerwill report to theReliabilityManagerandwillprovide technical/troubleshootingassistancein resolving equipment design, operation, and maintenance problems for allrotatingequipmentlocatedwithin assigned area teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical/troubleshootingassistancein resolving equipment design, operation, and maintenance problems for all rotating equipmentlocatedwithin assigned area teams; collaborate withinternal and externalsubject matterexperts asrequired.
Utilize reliability tools such as reliability analytics, failureanalysis, and cost analysis toevaluate andimprove reliability of rotating equipment systems.
Maintainaccurateequipment records and recommend spare parts for rotating equipment.
Write PRFs for reliability improvement projects, equipment upgrades, etc. including financial justification (life cycle cost analysis) andfacilitateDSP development.
Champion(MOC) Management of Changeasappropriate.
Developturnaround work scopesbased onITPMandMechanical Integrityrequirements forrotating equipment.
ManagePreventative Maintenance (PM) plansfor rotating equipment.
Helpestablishequipment monitoring plans and control limitsfor operability and predictive maintenance.
Develop, review, and edit maintenance procedures and work practices based on industry standards, MPC standards, and refinery experience.
Ensure equipment repairs meet or exceed OEM specificationsor MPC Standards.
Lead/participateinpre-job and after-action task reviews with craftsmen on major equipment repairs.
Provide technicalassistanceto aid decision-making on repair solutions during turnarounds and unplanned equipment outages. Available totake calls andwork overtimeonoff-hours asrequiredto support refinery operations.
Review corporate specifications for potential improvementsbased on industry and site-specific experience asappropriate.
Provide technicalexpertiseand support to capital project development.
Lead/participatein incident investigations related to rotatingequipment.
ParticipateonAdvisory Groups and support corporate initiatives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum (Required) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Two (2) years or more of experiencerequired
Valid driver’s license
Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications
Four (4) years ormoreexperiencewithdesign,installation,troubleshooting,and repair of rotating equipmentincluding compressors, pumps,steam turbines,electric motors,blowersand fin fans.
