Job / Role Summary
The SMTSacts as a technical authority in NAND Advanced Thin Films, setting strategic direction, architecting solutions, and leading multi-functional initiatives with department-wide impact. The role drives innovation adoption, influences technical standards, leads advanced development/fixing/integration, and develops engineering capability through mentorship and knowledgebuilding.
Main Responsibilities
Define technical strategy and lead multi-functional projects in structural and electrical film development.
Architect solutions and promote innovative technologies acrossteams;influence standards and drive process improvements.
Lead advanced process development, fixing, and integration;validatewithin and cross-module interactions and device/process linkages via wafer-level electricals.
Drive complex problem solving across process/structure/hardware/device interactions (RCA, FMEA, SPC, corrective actions that recover window without yield trade-off).
Lead vendor engagements to push hardware/process capability; secure resources and set achievements.
Other Responsibilities
Mentor engineers through structured development; build SME pipelines; publish internal papers/BKMs and present to senior leadership; uphold Micron’s technical leadership expectations
Integrates AIassistedtools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment andcomplying withorganizational standards and legal requirements.
Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement byidentifying, testing, and sharing AI enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.
Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
PhD≥12yrs, or Master’s ≥15yrs,of relevant experience in
Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field,
Withextensive thin films R&D/PD experience
Must-Have Technical Skills
Advanced thin film processingproficiency(PECVD / thermal CVD / ALD) and hands-on equipment optimization for dielectric + carbon films.
Advanced characterization and correlation modeling linking process parameters to reliability/scaling behavior.
Strong understanding of process-mechanical-device interactions and NAND scaling.
Must-Have Soft Skills
Recognized technical authority; high-impact influence; strong mentorship capability.
Clear executive communication; cross-site leadership mindset.
Highly Desirable / Preferred
Demonstrated leadership in multi-functional development and vendor collaboration.
