The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, recognition, management, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred by athletes.
75% Provide daily medical coverage to the Men's & Women's Tennis programs including: injury prevention, recognition and assessment, injury treatment and rehabilitation as well as referrals for athletic and non-athletic injuries and ailments, Maintain accurate records of injuries; Coordinate or provide transportation to medical appointments; Maintain current knowledge base with regards to modes of rehabilitation and therapy; Assist with Pre-Participation Exams; Work collaboratively with Athletic Director of Health and Wellness, Director of Sport Psychology and the Dietitian the thoughtful evaluation and referral to ADAP Services; Assist them with issues related to medication, rehabilitation and illness as well as psychological wellness for the student-athlete.
15% Serve as Medical Coordinator for any post-season Tennis regional and championship events hosted by LSU; Responsible for mentorship and supervision and the quarterly evaluation of one Intern Athletic Trainer overseeing the medical needs of the Men's & Women's Tennis Program and Athletic Training Students.
10% Participate in recruiting visits when asked by teams; Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of a respectful culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Complete other tasks as assigned by Director of Sports Medicine.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree with two years experience in athletic training at the collegiate or professional level; NATA certified for at least 2 years and eligibility for Louisiana state licensure; CPR/AED Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with a D1 tennis program.
Special or Physical Requirements:
Ability to work extended days and weekends. Travel is required. Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities, this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University PS-67. Pre-employment drug screen and physical required. Driver's license required.
