Job Description Summary
A Senior Food Scientist independently develops and executes a research plan that aligns with LW strategy. Following LW’s Stage Gate process, and using consumer insights, you will manage projects to develop new products, processes and/or technologies for potential commercialization, including written reports. Develops and follows established protocols and work plans. Drafts for review technical proposals and reports.

Job Responsibilities:
Designs and executes experiments and prepares results for review with a cross-functional team.
Use consumer insights to conceptualize and develop new product prototypes&/or processes.
Formulates new products to match the ingredient statement, nutritional profile,costand product attributes of the target product.Usessensory tools tooptimizeproduct formulation internally and externally.
Developsand documents details for ingredients,process,manufacturingand finished quality specifications of products, including development of QAProceduresas necessary.
Identifiesand executes key product quality, stability, cookingparameterand safety testing protocols.
Identifiesand executes cost saving opportunities.
Clearly documents hypothesis, purpose, procedures,observationsand conclusions in labnotebook.
Develops project timelines that are acceptable to the cross-functional team members. Works closely with project manager to create andmaintainaccuratetimelines.
Conducts plant trials and new product startups.
Works with Sales and Marketing to create product presentations for the enterprise.
Able to manage a small product development team, helping them set and meet goals that help drive LW strategy.
Collaborates with Engineering/Packaging/Operations/QA and Marketing to meet project deadlines.

Bachelor’s degree in food science or related fieldrequired
Master’s degree in food science or related field preferred
Skills and Experience:
5yearsrelated experience infood science
Clear,concisewrittenand verbal communication.
Pro-activeself-starterwilling to accept responsibility for business tasks.
Physical Environment/Demands:
Some travel may berequired, up to 30% of the time.
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
Incumbentmay sit forlong periodsof time at desk or computer terminal
