Job Description
Performs advanced troubleshooting and repairs on complex systems, focusing on electrical, electronic, and control components such as PLCs, sensors, relays, drives, HMIs, and servo systems. Utilizes diagnostic tools, electrical schematics, and control logic for root cause analysis.
Modifies or upgrades existing control systems and equipment to improve reliability, performance, or safety. Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers to implement design changes and process improvements.
Leads preventive and corrective maintenance activities for mechanical and electronic systems, ensuring minimal production interruption and compliance with PM schedules.
Develops and executes testing methods for electrical and control systems; interprets schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings. May create or update technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting guides for internal use.
Supports new equipment qualification and debugging, assisting Manufacturing Engineering with the commissioning, validation, and optimization of automated and semi-automated systems.
Ensures proper functionality and integration of control systems including PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and motion control devices.
Acts as primary liaison for service contractors and vendors related to control systems, automation hardware, and instrumentation.
Communicates investigation and repair status to appropriate stakeholders, maintaining transparency and alignment with production and engineering teams.
Monitors equipment performance and process parameters; identifies and corrects control or electrical issues that contribute to downtime, yield loss, or product non-conformance.
Designs, recommends, and installs equipment or control system enhancements, supporting product fabrication, testing, and process development initiatives.
Trains peers and production personnel on basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation of electronic and control systems.
Supports and contributes to ISO, GMP, and EHS compliance through accurate documentation, system adherence, and continuous improvement efforts.
Documents all maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and corrective actions, in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Performs other duties as assigned to support departmental and company goals.
Required: High School Diploma or Vocational Technical Degree in Industrial Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or related discipline.
5–7 years of hands-on maintenance experience with strong emphasis on electrical, electronic, and control systems.
3–5 years of relevant experience acceptable with an Associate’s Degree.
Advanced knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and programming (GE, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
Proficiency with industrial controls, sensors, HMIs, servo drives, and motion systems.
Strong understanding of electrical schematics, pneumatic systems, and control logic.
Skilled in analytical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and mechanical prints.
Experience with CAD software for basic electrical or mechanical layouts preferred.
Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
