Serves as a central point of contact for nursing issues in the absence of Nursing managers and administrators. Coordinates bed assignments with Emergency Department, Nursing units and Patient Placement to facilitate safe and expeditious patient placement/assignment.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:
Makes rounds throughout shift to assess accommodation of patients and staff response to patient placement issues
Communicates regularly with Patient Placement, Nursing Units and the Emergency Department to facilitate flow of patients being admitted
Intercedes in difficult patient/family situations to provide support, public relations and problem resolution
Takes needed action to facilitate departure of discharged patients
Assesses staffing levels in consideration of patient acuity and make recommendations regarding interventions as indicated according to divisional staffing policies
Communicates with Patient Care Manager as indicated during shift and completes reports needed for administration
Monitors, directs and facilitates hospital operations including customer satisfaction, throughput, patient care processes and hospital functional capacity
Other duties as assigned
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Associate’s degree in Nursing required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
Current Registered Nurse licensure in North Carolina required
2 years’ clinical experience required
1 year management/supervisory experience required
Must have hospital experience in Med Surg, ICU or ED
Will be the manager of the hospital (Central Harnett Hospital) operations during nightshift
Leadership characteristics
Working knowledge of staffing, admissions and prioritization for patient placement
Strong interpersonal skills required
Ability to trouble shoot problem areas and maintain positive attitude
Long periods of standing, sitting or walking
Occasional lifting
Command of the English language
Visual and auditory acuity
Must be able to lift 35 pounds
