We are seeking Mechanical Design Engineers to join our team supporting Fluor on their Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) project! These positions are full-time and will be based out of Greenville, SC or Houston, TX. Openings for Principal, Senior, and Specialist level engineers.
Responsibilities
Serve as a Supervising Lead providing guidance / supervision to other engineers and designers.
Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to problems of advanced complexity in accordance with project requirements.
Develop and review specifications and design criteria.
Perform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment and systems; and solve technical problems of advanced complexity.
Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients.
Execute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and procedures.
Execute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
Develop and review estimates, schedules, and progress reports including effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting.
Establish, control, and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts.
Provide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, and review of vendor submittals.
Provide technical support to activities associated with construction administration including response to construction requests-for-information and field changes.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 10 - 15 years of work-related experience.
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
Ability to prepare and review calculations and specifications for equipment in support of Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development.
Demonstrated proficiency in reading and working with P&IDs.
Demonstrated design experience in areas such as mechanical systems and equipment design and specification.
Demonstrated proficiency with 2D CADD applications such as Bentley MicroStation and Autodesk AutoCAD.
Establish equipment requirements and prepare equipment data sheets for mechanical equipment including unfired and fired heat transfer equipment, packaged equipment, pressure vessels, pumps and compressors, or packaged equipment.
Evaluate dimensions, equipment connections, and equipment performance including pressure profiles, heat transfer rates, and off-design cases.
Provide equipment sizing and application support to project development or process.
Participate in material selection for equipment.
Develop and revise equipment lists, narrative specifications, equipment standards, equipment general arrangement and outline drawings.
Participate in supplier / contractor bid clarification, negotiation, and / or award meetings.
Represent Mechanical in model reviews and closely monitor mechanical equipment layout.
Provide consultation during fabrication and witness testing of equipment.
Provide consultation and / or on-site assistance for the installation, commissioning, and/or startup of equipment.
Desired Skills for Principal and Senior level candidates (10 yrs to 15 yrs experience)
Professional Engineer license.
Experience with design of systems, structures, and components for nuclear facilities under the requirements of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA-1.
Advanced knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials.
Demonstrated experience managing and leading large projects.
Proficiency with project set-up, development of control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out.
Practical field experience.
EPC project experience for the following industries:
U.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government Agency
Nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program
Manufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnology
Advanced knowledge of:
Static and/or rotating equipment
Instrumentation and Control (I&C) specifications for equipment
Finite element analysis
Design of mechanical equipment through all stages of a project from conceptual phase to design development, construction, and commissioning.
Mechanical equipment in one or more of the following specialties: rotating equipment, pressure vessels, unfired and fired heat transfer equipment, packaged equipment, or metallurgy and welding.
Desired Skills for Specialist level candidates (5+ years exp)
Professional Engineer license.
Experience with design of systems, structures, and components for nuclear facilities under the requirements of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA-1.
Advanced knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials.
Demonstrated experience managing and leading large projects.
Proficiency with project set-up, development of control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out.
Practical field experience.
