Job Description

As an Associate Director, SSSM Processes & Systems at Gilead you are responsible for the development and maintenance of processes and systems supporting contracting and the strategic selection and management of contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs) and/or direct material suppliers.
This includes the establishment and management of processes and systems for the identification and tracking of contracting needs with CDMOs and direct material suppliers. It also includes the identification, implementation, and management of processes and systems for the identification, selection, and performance management of CDMO, ESG, Risk Management, and department wide strategic initiatives. We are seeking a high energy, “go- getter” who will use their business process, contracting, and supplier management knowledge to drive continuous improvement in the management of strategic partnerships.
This position will be based at a Gilead site (Foster City, CA or Parsippany, NJ) and is eligible for our GFlex program (work from home Monday & Friday)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Own the management of contracting processes and systems designed to identify, document, track, and approve contracting needs, boundaries, status, and execution.
Serve as the resident SME and owner of contracting processes and systems.
Supports contract life cycle management and communication of contract terms with stakeholders.
Identify and implement process improvements to business processes and/or systems supporting the strategic selection and management of CDMOs and direct material suppliers.
Develop budgets and accurately report accruals to Finance if/as needed.
Support the assessment and mitigation of supplier risks through regular supplier risk management processes.
Leads supplier risk register process and is SPOC for Third Party Risk Management processes.
Leads ESG projects for SSSM department and acts as project manager for ESG data requests.
Lead and participate in strategic initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
Coordinate/lead meetings internally and with suppliers, publishes meeting minutes.
Support Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management team members in the identification and tracking of contracting needs, supplier risk management processes, ESG projects and department and Gilead strategic initiatives.
Conduct training of relevant stakeholders and contributors to contracting processes.
Maintain database for the tracking of existing contract terms, renewals, etc.
Maintain tracking of annual contracting plan and status of contract negotiations/approvals.
Develop and maintain annual business process improvement initiatives related to contracting and performance management with CDMOs and/or direct material suppliers
Lead assigned business process improvement initiatives related to contracting and performance management with CDMOs and/or direct material suppliers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience with business contracting process improvement, continuous improvement, and/or lean six sigma.
Strong computer skills and experience with an ERP system and project management software.
Knowledge of GMPs and associated regulations (21CFR parts 11, 210, 211, 820).
Ability to lead cross functional project teams.
Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence others.
Experience negotiating complex agreements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate concisely and accurately to all levels within an organization.
Ability to manage multiple programs/projects; sound organizational and time management skills is essential.
Ability to develop concise presentations to convey complex issues to senior management.
Ability to work under uncertainty and to resolve conflict in a constructive manner.
Ability to solve highly complex problems through ingenuity and collaboration with subject matter experts and other key stakeholders.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential
REQUIRED
10+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech organization or relevant manufacturing environment with a BA or BS degree OR
8+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical/ biotech organization or relevant manufacturing environment with a MA/MBA degree OR
5+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical/ biotech organization or relevant manufacturing environment with a Ph.D.
Prior experience managing high value and/or complex service and/or supplier contracts in a regulated industry
PREFERRED
Project management experience and/or certification are a plus
Green Belt Certification is a plus

The salary range for this position is:
Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
