The SAP / LOTO Lead will take full ownership of electrical safety management on site, ensuring all HV and LV systems are installed, energised, and operated safely and in full compliance with project, statutory, and HSEQ requirements.
In addition, the role requires sufficient mechanical systems knowledge to safely plan, implement, and control mechanical isolations where electrical and mechanical systems interface, ensuring fully integrated and safe isolation practices across the site.
The role requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise in electrical systems, supported by practical mechanical experience, and excellent coordination with site management, commissioning teams, contractors, and external authorities.
- Lead by example in Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ), actively promoting a strong safety culture across Kanadevia Inova and contractor teams.
- Ensure all project HSEQ requirements are fully implemented within area of responsibility, working closely with Site Management, HSE, and Commissioning teams to eliminate or mitigate electrical hazards.
- Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), ensuring all electrical works are carried out strictly in accordance with approved documentation and site standards.
- Take overall responsibility for establishing and maintaining safe systems of work for electrical activities, including switching schedules, permits, and isolation procedures.
- Act as Senior Authorised Person (SAP) for HV and LV systems, undertaking and overseeing all switching operations on equipment supplied by Kanadevia Inova and associated contractors.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and energisation of HV (11kV and above where applicable) and LV electrical equipment, ensuring safe and compliant execution.
- Lead and manage the Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) office, coordinating all permits to work and ensuring strict control of isolations across the site.
- Ensure adequate protection measures are in place to safeguard personnel during construction and commissioning activities on energised or potentially energised systems.
- Assume full responsibility for the safety and HSE performance of personnel under direct control, including stopping work immediately where safety may be compromised.
- Liaise closely with the District Network Operator (DNO) and Independent Connection Provider (ICP) on all matters relating to network connections, outages, and switching activities.
- Coordinate daily activities with the Site Manager, Commissioning Manager, and Site HSE Manager, ensuring effective planning and execution of electrical works.
- Actively participate in site and commissioning meetings to ensure full alignment with the testing and commissioning programme.
- Capture and deliver Lessons Learned, contributing to continuous improvement on current and future Kanadevia Inova projects.
