AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Energy team. This role is intended for a talented engineer with experience who will provide technical oversight and perform technical tasks related to the design, procurement, installation, commissioning and operations of various electrical systems associated with complex energy infrastructure and industrial projects.
This is a hybrid position, combining office and remote work.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical fundamentals, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive mindset, with the ability to take ownership of the complete electrical scope of work assigned for capital infrastructure energy projects, and has experience with a variety of systems such as power generation and distribution, microgrid control, grid interconnection.
The job responsibilities of the position will include but are not limited to:
- Leads and executes electrical engineering design and analysis for power generation, industrial and resources extraction systems
- Power distribution and system architecture
- Equipment sizing and selection
- System studies (e.g., load flow, short circuit, protection coordination)
- Develop calculations, technical reports, technical specifications, bid evaluations and recommendations, address technical queries, respond to client’s comments, perform root-cause analysis.
- Support system modeling and simulation to evaluate performance under various operating conditions.
- Participates in Electrical HAZID and HAZOP studies and other electrical safety assessments.
- Take ownership of the electrical engineering and design scope of work on assigned projects, by leading and coordinating the execution of tasks, deliverables, or work packages.
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced engineers and designers.
- Perform quality checks and participate in peer reviews.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment and integration of electrical systems.
- Apply applicable codes, standards, and internal procedures.
- Interdisciplinary technical interface coordination
- Coordinating internal resources and third parties/subcontractors for the technical execution of scope.
- Lead and Participate in Design, Constructability, Operability and Maintainability Reviews
- Collaborate with Project Engineering Managers in the development of engineering work plans and schedules.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and technical issues to project leadership.
- Contribute to problem-solving efforts at the intra- and inter-disciplinary level.
- Contribute to practice growth, standards development, and capability building through project leadership and mentorship.
- Stay informed on industry practices, tools, and emerging technologies.
- Participate in internal knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
