AECOM is actively seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for full-time employment based out of Burnaby, BC.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled Rock Mechanics/Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have balanced experience in geotechnical design and site reconnaissance, with expertise in geological mapping, rock mechanics, and geotechnical investigations.
Technical Expertise
Conduct site reconnaissance and geological mapping with a focus on rock mechanics and rock mass classification systems.
Develop computer-aided geological models, profiles, and cross-sections using tools such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or Leapfrog.
Perform soil and rock slope stability, and rock fall analyses, and design mitigation measures.
Conduct geotechnical investigations, including in-situ and laboratory testing, and interpret results to define geotechnical design parameters.
Prepare geotechnical design reports, specifications, and technical proposals.
Design rock slope support for open cuts and provide geohazard and terrain hazard assessments.
Design of tunnels in both soft and hard ground TBM and SEM (Sequential Excavation Methods).
Design of SOE (support of excavation) systems of shafts and cut and cover tunnels.
Prepare contracts for geotechnical investigations, surveys, and construction works.
Software Proficiency
Utilize RocScience Suite, including RocFall (2D/3D), Dips, RocPlane, SWedge, RocTopple, RSData, RS2, Slide2/3 (or Slope/W), and Plaxis 2D/3D
Work with AutoCAD and ArcGIS for geological mapping and spatial data management.
(Preferred) Experience with Leapfrog for 3D geological modeling.
Collaboration & Coordination
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, tunneling, and hydrology experts.
Liaise with contractors, clients, and local authorities to ensure project approvals and compliance.
