AECOM is seeking a Site Civil Engineer for the Florida region out of our Tampa, FL office.
The Site Civil Engineer will work on projects that are designed in the B+P East/Florida group with a focus on the site civil aspects of the design including site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, construction plan preparation, and permitting. These development projects are for a vast variety of markets, projects, and clients locally, domestically, and internationally. Types of projects may include commercial mixed-use developments, parks and recreation projects, operations and warehouse centers, education and institutional projects, industrial facilities, military facilities and base developments, utilities, and airport facilities, among many others.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serves as a lead / senior civil engineer on a variety of site/civil project types, including mid- to large size projects.
- Takes a leadership role and also performs general and specific portions of project or as part of a team with other experienced engineers.
- Works under supervision of the Department Manager/Project Manager, however able to organize workload and work independently on project-specific design tasks.
- Provides guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, including knowledge sharing with staff for specific technical design aspects of a site/civil project (i.e. – Civil 3D design tools, stormwater/utility design and calculations, etc.).
- Works on detailed engineering assignments involving calculations.
- Uses AutoCAD Civil3D for site/civil land development designs including design of utilities, general site development, grading and drainage, best management practices, erosion control, profiles, typical sections, cross sections, hydraulics, low impact development strategies & hydrology.
- Preparation of drawings, specifications, basis of design, technical memos.
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
- Performs quality control review of project deliverables and identifies discrepancies in results.
- Prepares technical specification sections.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
- Preparation of permits such as ERPs(Environmental Resource Permits), FDEP NPDES, SWPPP, Grading, Utilities (FDEP and FDOH), and Civil Support for local county/city site development permitting.
- Works with other professional staff members and AECOM departments (architects, environmental scientists, landscape architects, Federal team, MEP, etc.) to collaborate on project deliverables, reports, studies, drawings, and design narratives.
- Work in an office setting and a hybrid work environment with potential meetings outside of the office or visits to sites where a project may be located.
