Transportation Business Line in Spain is seeking to hire a Senior Structural Engineer or Principal Structural Engineer to deliver high quality structural engineering solutions. This role is pivotal to supporting the growth of our Structural Engineering discipline and delivering innovative solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects, including railway stations, public buildings, refurbishments, and high-rise structures.
With a strong track record of successfully delivering structural design solutions in multiple countries, our team is looking for a seasoned professional who can combine technical expertise with strategic leadership.
You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and business objectives. In this role, you will lead the technical aspects of structural design projects, coordinating efforts with the project manager to deliver high-quality results. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and expertise to enhance their technical skills and support their professional development while strengthening client relationships.
This position is based in Madrid and offers a flexible hybrid work model, with 2–3 days per week at the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate complex structural design projects from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships to understand their needs and expectations.
- Oversee interdisciplinary collaboration with architecture, MEP, and other disciplines, ensuring seamless integration of structural solutions.
- Perform advanced structural calculations and designs for various building types, ensuring compliance with local and international codes.
- Develop technical documentation, including calculation reports, design narratives, and tender/permit documentation.
- Create and manage Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models within BIM platforms to support collaborative workflows.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Represent AECOM in client meetings, industry events, and conferences, showcasing our expertise and capabilities.
- Address and resolve design challenges efficiently, ensuring project timelines and budgets are met.
- Provide strategic guidance on structural solutions that align with client goals and project requirements.
