AECOM's Surface Transportation Team in Ireland—a 150+ strong professional network operating across Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Belfast – is thriving due to significant growth fueled by a robust pipeline of major Roads, Public Transport and Greenway programmes.
We are seeking a driven and experienced Civil Engineer (or Infrastructure Engineer) to join our 50+ strong Highways team in Belfast.
We welcome applications from those with industry experience and the ambition to progress from their current role to become a Chartered Engineer in future that will lead our projects for our clients.

Your Role & Responsibilities
You will:
- Manage design packages on a diverse range of projects from concept to construction stage, including:
- Major highway projects (to DMRB UK & Ireland Standards).
- Bus infrastructure projects (to LTN 1/24, NTA standards)
- Greenway/active travel projects (to Cycling by Design/TII DMRB).
- Know and apply UK and/or Irish design standards including (the UK & Irish DMRB, Cycle by Design, DMURS, Cycle Design Manual) to create safe, people-focused transport solutions.
- Deliver high quality deliverables and service to our clients, meeting our quality standards and their expectations within time and budget constraints.
- Work seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team, seamlessly collaborating with technicians, engineers and specialists in other disciplines (e.g., drainage, structures, environmental).
- Work directly with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders, guiding them through technical challenges and relevant statutory approval processes (Northern Ireland Roads Order, Republic of Ireland Planning Permission, Environmental Impact Assessment).
- Develop our team, through mentoring of apprentices, contributing to AECOM’s culture of growth and continuous learning.
