I'm Chris Moyer, Director of Engineering at Teamworks. I lead engineering for our Coaching product, and right now I'm looking for a Senior Manager of Engineering to take ownership of four teams that are building complex, innovative sports analytics products.
Teamworks Coaching is a video-first analytics platform built to match the way coaches already work. It syncs performance data with game-film and quickly transforms it into insights coaches can use to better prepare their staff and teams.
The right person for this role won't wait to be told what to fix. They'll walk in, read the situation, and start moving. If you have led teams through transitions and helped them emerge more aligned, energized, and higher performing, I would love to connect.
Own the people leadership of four engineering managers and roughly 15β20 engineers, setting a clear vision, earning buy-in, and driving execution against the team's roadmap
Lead change management across teams adjusting to new ownership, a shift from front-end/back-end specialization to full-stack development, and evolving roadmap priorities; and get them to a place of stability and productive output
Ensure technical quality and delivery by bringing system design-level depth to how these teams build, particularly in big data and computer vision contexts, without being a hands-on coder
Build strong cross-functional relationships with the Platform team and Coaching product leaders across sports verticals, driving roadmap alignment between your teams and the broader organization
Drive AI adoption across your teams and lead the full-stack engineering transition to completion - two outcomes that will define the shape of this team a year from now
A track record of managing engineering managers β not just ICs β with demonstrated ability to set vision, drive alignment, and hold teams accountable for outcomes
System design-level technical depth, especially in big data; you don't need to write code, but you need to make strong architectural and delivery decisions alongside your teams
Real change management experience β specifically, leading teams through significant organizational or structural transitions and getting to a measurably positive outcome
Evidence that you solve problems autonomously: you've identified issues, built solutions, and executed without needing your manager's involvement or approval
Must be located in the Eastern time zone β the entire team is remote in this timezone and collaboration depends on it
You've worked directly in computer vision or machine learning, either as a practitioner or as a leader of teams doing this work
You have experience with video applications
You have hands-on web development experience in your background
This is a chance to do work that shows up in essentially every major sport at the professional and collegiate level worldwide β and to do it at a company where engineering leaders have real autonomy and real accountability. The research collaboration element of this role is genuinely rare for an engineering leadership position, and the transition challenge in front of you is the kind that separates strong managers from exceptional ones.
