As Health and Safety Advisor - Jobsite, you are primarily responsible for managing the health and safety prevention component of the worksites assigned to you. You will support and advise internal clients (managers, site supervisors, employees) in the application of established policies, procedures and practices.
The role would include the following but not limited to:
- Collaborate in the development and implementation of various H&S programs, policies, procedures and activities
- Prepare and conduct health and safety training and train new employees on occupational health and safety;
- Conduct regular inspections of construction sites and work methods to ensure that safety rules are observed, that protective equipment is used properly and that all the necessary safety devices are in place and in good working order;
- Develop the project-specific prevention program and see that it is implemented on the jobsite;
- Require that immediate corrections be made to unsafe conditions found during inspections;
- Issue and follow up on correction notices;
- Respond when a potential incident occurs and investigate following an incident;
- Constantly ensure that health and safety is maintained on the site by all contractors and visitors alike;
- Participate in various meetings dealing with safety;
- Participate in the development of a H&S program that meets the needs and responsibilities of employees and managers. Lead and/or coordinate training sessions;
