Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced VAVE Purchasing Engineer to lead value analysis and value engineering activities for HVAC products. The role focuses on driving technical cost-down projects, achieving target cost reductions without compromising quality or performance, and collaborating with Commercial purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to optimize BOMs, components, and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage technical cost-down (VAVE) projects across the HVAC product lifecycle (from cradle to grave); deliver defined cost savings and performance targets.
- Conduct value analysis and function-oriented cost modeling (BOM rationalization, part substitution, design-to-cost, target costing, TCO assessment) with Design/Engineering and Manufacturing.
- Develop, track, and report project plans, milestones, savings realization, and risks; maintain accurate project data in systems.
- Drive supplier engagement for VAVE activities: select, qualify, and collaborate with suppliers to achieve cost reductions, participate in negotiations, and manage supplier development plans.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops (Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing) to optimize components, assemblies, and processes; apply DFMEA/DFX and design-for-cost methodologies.
- Support NPI and change-management processes (ECNs/PCNs) to implement cost-down concepts with minimal risk to quality and delivery.
- Support to build and maintain cost models, cost breakdown structures, and target costs; perform priced-for-function analyses and trade-off studies.
- Ensure alignment with procurement policies, governance, and compliance; monitor supplier risk and sustainability considerations.
- Prepare and present status updates, savings reports, and KPI dashboards for stakeholders and leadership.
