Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal Logistics Engineer to join our Linthicum, MD based Logistics and Product Support organization.Â
What Youâll get to Do:
This position seeks an Engineer to perform logistics engineering tasks such as, the managing of customer repairs, product support analysis, logistics product data generation, sustainment planning and execution, and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) management.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence design and sustainment strategies for a variety of products supporting US Army, US Air Force, US Navy, US Marine Corps and other customers. Analysis are performed during all phases of a productâs life cycle: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Â
The successful candidate will apply both technical knowledge and organizational skills to solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints to perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Typical work products will include Trade Studies and engineering analysis to determine a productâs Level Of Repair Analysis (LORA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis, Support Equipment requirements, Spares Modelling, Trend analysis of maintenance and repair histories, and the identification and mitigation of DMSMS risks.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Performing logistics Product Support Analyses (PSA) to identify parts, equipment, activities and skillset necessary to maintain systems and achieve required levels of operational availability.
Conduct Trade Studies to design sustainment strategies that minimize a systemâ logistics footprint while achieving all other system requirements.
Interacting with team members to interpret Customer needs and requirements.
Participating in and presenting technical information in team and customer meetings.
Coordinate with engineers, manufacturing, and customers to collect and exchange data.
Exercises considerable latitude in determining maintenance objectives of the program.
Collect, track and analyses data such as usage rates, operation and maintenance trends, inventory level and other relevant information needed to ensure the sustainability of systems.
Works with team to identify maintenance issues and improve maintenance processes.
Managing and reporting of customer repairs, and communicating with suppliers to obtain the best outcomes for repairs.
Contributing to proposal efforts.
Conducting Logistics Support Analysis for an entire program.
Build a Level of Repair Analysis for a program.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or relevant discipline with 5 years of experience; a Master's Degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 1 year of experience. An additional 4 years of experience from the preferred qualifications may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and product data sheets for electrical components.
Experience identifying scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements for systems; and determine associated spares, tools, calibration, and manpower requirements. Basic understanding of repair processes throughout an organization.
Proficiency with MS Excel and Word.
US Citizenship is required.
A current/active DoD Secret Clearance is required. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance for continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or relevant discipline.
Basic working knowledge of military operational and logistics organizations and operations.
Familiarity of Mil-STD-1388 type work products
Experience in a manufacturing discipline implementing repair strategies and processes, especially related to electronic equipment.
Experience developing logistics work products on a Department of Defense (DoD) Acquisition program or DoD Sustainment program.
Knowledge of Integrated Product Support Analysis in accordance with MIL-STD-1388, MIL-HDBK-502 or TA-STD-0017.
Experience with Logistic Product Database software tools such as EAGLE, SLICWave, PowerLogJ, or similar.
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
Able to take direction and quickly achieve the ability to work independently after receiving instruction/training.
Ability to handle a fast-paced environment that requires continuous learning in technical skills.
