Job Summary
The Environmental Safety & Health Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation of environmental compliance programs, permit requirements, and corporate environmental policies, standards, procedures, and strategic goals within their assigned region, plant, and project scope. This role will be responsible for preparing, advising, and assisting management on the administration of safety and health (S&H) event prevention policies and procedures, including public safety matters. They will handle coordinating and implementing the safety and health programs within their assigned region, or facility. The successful candidate will work with corporate Safety and Health management in the development and implementation of advanced safety and health training programs applicable to their geographic region or technical expertise.Job Description
What youāll do:
Essential Job Functions
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Instructs, advises, and assist management and personnel to carry out the company's environmental, safety and health programs.
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Prepares and delivers training and familiarization topics of the company's environmental, safety and health programs to employees
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Conducts observations and coaching of AEP personnel to ensure the successful implementation of the company's safety and health programs.
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Provides support during environmental, safety, and health compliance audits and inspections.
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Coordinates and responds to public inquiries regarding environmental matters.
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Develops and maintains environmental documents and records for compliance regulations.
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Advises and assists management in post-event safety and health causal analysis
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Provides support in the event of a release or discharge of a regulated substance including making any necessary agency notifications, arranging contractor support, directing clean-up efforts, and follow-up reports with regulatory agencies.
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Maintains a good working knowledge of any applicable federal, state, or local rules and regulations pertaining to safety and health.
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Promotes and enforces the company's safety and health event prevention programs.
What weāre looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Bachelorās degree in Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or another relevant field.
ā¢Ā Ā Ā OR associate degree in a relevant field with two years of experience in power plant or utility field operations.
ā¢Ā Ā Ā OR High School Diploma/GED with four years of experience in Environmental, Safety & Health program administration and related field experience.

Licenses/Certifications:
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Valid driverās license
Other Requirements:
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Proficient oral and written skills
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Basic computer skills are required
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Position involves daily travel with occasional overnight travel
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Must be physically able to climb 300 feet of ladder and work on elevated platforms.
ā¢Ā Ā Ā The maximum weight of the employee is 265lbs due to limitations associated with climbing safety equipmentĀ
